miniature crochet

i've enjoyed crocheting jewelry with my skinny little steel hooks, but this is the first dollhouse-scale project i've embarked upon.

single-strand embroidery floss with 1.6 mm hook.

finished size of this stroller blanket will be about 4x5 inches. am i nuts? it's actually going better than i anticipated...

spring spinning

just a few photos to share of recent yarn spun..

this baby suri alpaca fiber is from woolgatherings, found at the columbia gorge fiber festival. the fiber had such a fantastic sheen to it, and the moment i touched it, i was sold. now i want nothing more than to sit in my own field surrounded by alpacas, spinning and crocheting my days away.

in the meantime, i'll use the lace weight singles yarn to make myself a comfy shawl to fondle while i'm at my desk.

this 2-ply fingering weight yarn is a wonderful blend of 50% merino/30% alpaca/20% silk in a calm, neutral "praline" colorway from fat cat knits.

these colors are a good match for my wardrobe.

knit the Dude's sweater

is your dude a big lebowski fan? knit him his own "Dude" sweater!

dude.jpgknitter Andrea Rangel designed this sweater based on the one the dude wore in the movie.

she has shared the pattern, complete with charts, for you to kick back with a white russian and knit your own. it's being offered for free, but it definitely looks worth a donation to the designer if you plan to make one yourself.

sweater designed by Andrea Rangel. this photo is hers too.

crochet tank: lace on the bias

i'm horrible at remembering to photograph my finished craft projects. i finished crocheting this shirt last fall, and just now took photos of it.

i haven't gotten much chance to wear it yet, but this summer i will!
