Adventures in Bead Crochet
hmm.. i like beads, i like crochet.... why not try bead crochet?
the urge struck me, and i just went for it. about time, too.
browsing the Ravelry website, i found this link that someone had posted regarding bead crochet for beginners:
Bead Pattern Central Beading Tutorial: Basic Tube Crochet
this 1-page pdf tutorial was easy to understand and explained simple concepts, especially as i am already familiar with crocheting in the round. eager to try it, i grabbed materials i had on hand: glass seed beads (size 8, i believe) and DMC cotton embroidery floss. i did a pattern of (5 green, 1 black) with the beads so that i could more easily count my stitches and make sure there's nothing missing.

i couldn't find any tips online about combining the ends for a continuous bangle, but i just gave it a shot by using a needle and stitching the two ends together. it worked pretty well, but if you look closely you may be able to tell where the connection was made.

after doing a bit more research and asking artisans who are more experienced in bead crochet, i've come to the conclusion that it would be best for the life of the bracelet if i were to use nylon or polyester thread instead of cotton. there are materials out there more suited for this application, i just need to find them! so, this is
the only bracelet i'll be making until i get my hands on some more cord.
this bracelet fits a 7" wrist. since it's a bit too big for me, i'll be selling it in my Etsy shop. i love the way that the stitches allow just enough stretch to roll the bracelet over your hand.
