Join me Saturday for another Portland artisans' market!

The second fair of the season is here!
Tomorrow (Saturday July 19), dozens of local artisans will be at the South Park Blocks in downtown Portland showcasing their quality handmade products.

Stop by from 8am to 4pm, just south of the Farmer's Market.

Last month's show was a big hit, despite the heat! This weekend's weather should be a little milder, offering a more comfortable shopping atmosphere. Portland is such a great city for a summer outdoor market! If you can't make it tomorrow, we'll be there on August 9 as well...

a warehouse full of beads.. oh, my!

Last week, I visited Shipwreck Beads in Olympia for the first time.

I'll just say: WOW.

Never had I seen so many beads and jewelry supplies in one place! It was a little overwhelming upon first entering, but it felt like stepping into a dream world. Now I know how a true bibliophile feels on their first trip to Powell's Books..

The shop is about 2 hours' drive north of me. I was in Seattle for work and I happened to have the opportunity to stop on my way home. I sure didn't leave empty-handed, but I had less than an hour to spend there, which definitely doesn't do justice to the vast inventory that Shipwreck has to offer. I must set up another field trip to drive up and spend half a day there!
